We are all celebrating after placing as runner up in the whole of the UK and taking the Best in Scotland crown at the prestegious industry event, the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Awards.

L’Oreal Colour Trophy, is an industry favourite, taking the best in new colourists from every region all over the UK to compete in one Grand Final, which took place earlier this week at Battersea Evolution Centre, London.

Jonny our senior stylist, has fought off some fierce competition - first winning the regional finals in Glasgow back in March, to go on to the day event in the L’Oreal Academy London.

He was up against folk from all over the UK where they go in with their colour models and are judged whilst styling. Before going on to an evening event at Battersea Evolution where all of the finalists models walk the catwalk for their final judging - before the winners are announced!

The catogories judged include, Mens Image, Afro Award, Star Award - and L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2019. Jonny placed runner up in the colour trophy bit for UK - and took home the win for Scotland with his “Toxified Coral” creation.

Toxified Coral

Jonny’s winning colour “Toxified Coral” was a yellow to coral bleed on a sleek sharp bob. He took inspiration from this years Pantone Colour of the Year: Living Coral, but wanted to look at it from an environmental standpoint.

Jonny wanted to bring awareness to the state of our oceans – and to the fact that due to pollution of our seas, coral is losing its natural vibrancy. Hence, the bleeding of a faded coral on the ends of the hair, to a more intense yellow at the root. The styling of his model also reflected this theme, dressing her in a royal blue unisex suit to represent a futuristic mass utilitarian dystopia.

“I am absolutely delighted with my final look, it is a true physical representation of my initial concept and vision. I am absolutely blown away by last night’s result – I can’t quite believe I got to the final, so to place second in the UK and Best in Scotland… well I’m speechless! I think I actually went into shock as the winners were being announced!

Wehave watched Jonny grow from an graduate, and step into his talents. He is so hard working and has such a humble yet ambitious nature. And we couldn’t be more proud of him!

Big shout out to my Linton & Mac fam, for giving me the confidence to apply – and for their encouragement at every stage of the competition.”
